My Poor Poor Mom!!!

While I was babysitting last week, my Mom and I were cutting squares of fabric to make quilts for the festival of trees. While my Mom was cutting, she cut off the side of her finger! It was soooo gross! I seriously had no idea of what to do. I know when you knock out a tooth you stick it in a glass of milk. I know that if it's a cut, apply pressure and get stitches, but what do you do when the whole side of your finger is on the table? Well, all you can do is apply pressure. I ran my Mom to the instacare. ( I'm very familiar with that place.) When we got there there were a few other people checking in. We waited a few minutes and they brought out a nurse to see my Mom's finger. My Mom was sitting on a chair with her head down. She felt like she was going to pass out. The nurse looked at her finger, then she kept pushing on her finger and then pulling back the paper towel we had wrapped around her finger, again and again and again. This was obviously causing pain to my Mom, she kept pulling her finger back away from the nurse and lifting up her legs! At this point another patient in the waiting room told me that I had better sit down. I guess I lost all color in my face and looked like I was going to pass out! Seriously, it was so gross! Anyway, they put this foam stuff on my Mom's finger to cauterize the blood vessels so they would stop bleeding. Then they put a splint on it and wrapped it really tight. My poor, poor Mom! They said that her finger would just grow back. I brought the side of her finger with me thinking that maybe they could just stitch it back on, but they can't it's now considered dead tissue. So, what did I learn from this...there is nothing you can do for a cut off, and I'm a wimp!

Tagged Again!

Who do you love? Bryce, Kaybree, and Oakley! And of course all my family.
How long have you been married? In two weeks it will be 8 years!
Who said I love you first? probably me!
How long did you date? we dated for 5 months and were engaged for almost 5.
Where did he propose? At my house. It was Christmas Eve. Bryce came over to my house. I thought we were going to go to the mall. I was upset with Brooke because she had borrowed some of my clothes without asking! So of course I wasn't ready to go when Bryce got there. To top it all off, he had a present with him. He told me that his Grandma had knitted me a sweater that I was supposed to wear that night! I made him wait for me for awhile before I was ready (Poor Guy!) Then he couldn't wait any longer he made me open the present. There was another smaller present inside that one, and another inside that one. I still didn't understand that he was proposing because that is really what my Grandma does with our gifts. So the entire time I still thought the gift was from his Grandma! I soon realized it was a ring! He got down on his knee and proposed!
Who is taller? Bryce, he is 6'3" I am 5'6"
Who is smarter? He's smarter about somethings, and I'm smarter about other things. I like to think of us as well balanced.
Who does the laundry? I do.
Who pays the bills? We pay them together
Who mows the lawn? Bryce. I do the flowers and the weeds.
Who cooks dinner? Mostly me, unless I'm sick then we get a pizza or something!
Who drives? Bryce, if he has been out of town and driving a lot then I will.
Who is more stubborn? I don't know it might be a toss up.
Who can sing better? I would have to say neither of us!
Now I get to tag a few of my friends.... Marcie, Liza, Jamie and Brooke!

Deep Thoughts! #1

So, let me just tell you a little about the last two weeks. We have been to the doctor's office three times. One time for Kaybree, (I already posted that one) and twice for Oakley. She has had ear infections again as well. I am going to take her to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist now. She has had tubes before, it looks like it's time for another set. Ugh! Oh and yes, Doctor Johnson did end up getting those caramel brownies after two different batches. I ate the first batch, my thighs are thanking me for those. Anyway, last week was also very fun, Bryn was in town and we got to do a few fun things with her. Yeah!

This week I am babysitting Brooke and Jer's boys. Brooke and Jer are on a cruise and I am home with four kids. I think I'd rather be cruising! Needless to say, I'm insanely jealous!

One thing that you may not know about me is.... I LOVE deep thoughts! I think they are just hilarious! Whenever I am not feeling up to par, I whip out my deep thoughts and end up rolling on the ground! I first stumbled upon them when I was a junior in high school. My favorite back then was...

To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, "Hey, can you give me a hand?" You can say, "Sorry, got these sacks."

Of course that was my favorite! We would be on the boat and someone would yell for a life jacket and I would say, "sorry, got these sacks" ha..ha..ha! Don't worry nobody got hurt!
Anyway, there you have it, I LOVE deep thoughts and will be sharing a few of them with you from time to time! Here is another...

I think a good product would be "Baby Duck Hat." It's a fake baby duck, which you strap on top of your head. Then you go swimming under water until you find a mommy duck and her babies, and you join them. Then all of the sudden, you stand up out of the water and roar like Godzilla. Man those ducks really take off! Also Baby Duck Hat is good for parties.

Yep, gotta love 'em!

Back to the Dr.

So, we were back to the doctor's office today! This time for Kaybree. She has pink eye and one ear infection. We see Dr. Johnson at Family First Pediatrics. He is really good with my kids. We stared seeing him when Kaybree was a baby. A few years later he moved into my parents ward. We lived at my parents house while we built our home and got to know him pretty well. I joke that I bought all of the brick on his house due to all of our dr. visits! (I'm sure I probably did!) We've even had to make a few late night house calls! Poor Guy! Of course when we bug him at home, I definitely bring goodies. Now that Dr. Johnson knows about my caramel brownies, that was his request today! So now I have a sick child and I have to bake for him! Seriously, was the brick not enough! Just Kidding! Thanks Dr. Johnson!

Minnie Ears

Last night we went to check on the girls before we went to bed. This is what we found when we entered Oakley's room! She fell asleep with her Minnie ears on! She seriously cracks me up! She marches to her own music!

Children's Museum

Last week we went to the Children's Museum. They have the Sesame Street exhibit there right now. It is going to leave soon so go quick if you want to see it! We went with smoe of our really good friends! Aren't we cute! Kaybree and her good friend Sadie!
Kaybree playing in the little store. Notice what she is pointing to. (definitely my daughter)
Oakley playing with the scanner. She is never looking at the camera! She tricks me, looks for half a second then looks away!
And of course, I had to pick it. Not a nose out there that I haven't picked!

Show and Tell

Kaybree had show and tell at school today. This is what she decided to take. A picture of Mark and Bryn. She told her class this is her aunt and uncle. She told them that they live in New Orleans and that their house had water in it. I think she did petty well. None of that was rehearsed. She knew exactly what happened to Aunt Bryn and Uncle Mark. In case you didn't know or gather from this, Bryn and Mark were living in New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina hit. They had to come back to Utah because they were living next to Lake Pontchartrain. The levees broke and flooded everything. They moved back to New Orleans after everything dried out again. Anyway, Kaybree really wanted to tell her friend all about her Aunt Bryn and Uncle Mark. We miss you guys! Love ya!

Kindergarten, Boyfriends, and a "Wewy Big Bum"!

Wow, what a title! I know that is what you are thinking! This is all pretty random, so hang in there! Today we had Kaybree's Kindergarten Orientation. We got to go to her school, see the class rooms, and listen about a few things the kids will be learning next year. It was lots of fun and Ariel is excited. I don't really know what track choice I want, we listed our preference as A,D,C,B who knows what we will end up with since there are 10 kindergarten classes next year!

Today we went to lunch with our adopted family across the street. I call Kirsten my wife and she calls me her wife. We are always doing things for each other. I make dinner for them when she works, she makes dinner for us when Bryce is gone, we watch each others kids. It works out very well. I understand polygamy now! Just Kidding! Anyway, our kids are inseparable today at lunch, I found out through Kirsten, who overheard the girls talking, that Kaybree has a boyfriend! His name is Cameron and he talks in a funny voice to her! I asked Kaybree about him, she blushed and admitted that indeed, she did like Cameron! I don't even know who Cameron is. He goes to her preschool and he talks in a funny voice to her. That is all I know! I am not ready for all of this!

Now apparently I have a "wewy big bum." This conversation actually happened a few weeks ago and I didn't write it down so here it goes! We were at the Gateway Mall downtown in the food court bathroom. Oakley had to go potty so we all squeezed into the tiny bathroom stall. Oakley went first. Then I decided that I should probably go too since we were already there. Well, Oakley in the loudest voice says, "Mommy whats dat smell!" (I swear it wasn't me) I tell her, "that is just the smell of the bathroom." Then she says, "Mommy dat is wewy stinky!" At this point I hear a few snickers from surrounding goers. Then she says, "Mommy, you have a wewy big bum!" Again, more snickering. I just kept shushing her, and shushing her some more, and hoped that nothing else would come out of that cute little mouth. After all of that, I waited a few minutes before emerging from the bathroom stall hoping that all those who heard would have left the bathroom. They did, the coast was clear. Seriously, nothing is sacred after having kids!

Another Crazy Week!

I don't know about any of you, but we have had the flu bug hit our house this week! Bryce has been sick along with Oakely again! Both of my parents are sick and my neighbor too! Oakley got sick Monday morning. She kept throwing up Monday and Tuesday. Monday was the worst. I was holding Oakley and she threw up in my hair and down my shirt. She had just eaten some top ramen, so I had noodles in the strangest places! Tuesday she was still trowing up, but she was doing a little better. That night she woke up crying about her ear. Wednesday I took her to the doctor. She has the flu and double ear infections. (AGAIN) She had tubes put in her ears when she was 12 months old. One has fallen out due to growth and the other is still in place. Anyway, she is doing better now.

Last night I got a break. I went to the Hale's Center Theater. The play Civil War was going on. It was so good! I seriously didn't listen in my history classes growing up! I had no idea that over 620,000 people were killed in the war!

For those of you who don't know, I make bows and sell them. I had a big order that I just turned in to the Hello Kitty Store (Sanrio) at South Towne Mall. I took those in tonight and finished setting up my bow blog! http://www.brittsbows.blogspot.com/ or you can see it linked on my blog Britt's Bows!

Needless to say, it has been a very busy week at the Newbold's!

Happy Easter!

Easter morning we woke up to the girls squealing with delight! They could see that the Easter Bunny had left a bunch of eggs in the backyard. They were eagerly anticipating the hunt! Bryce and I took our time getting out of bed and brushing our teeth, only to heighten their excitement! Before we hunted for the eggs, we had to find their Easter buckets. The Easter Bunny hid them in the dryer. That was a very tricky place so we had to play the game Hot and Cold! After finding their buckets, we went outside and hunted down all of the eggs! I don't think the girls have ever been this excited! Not even for Santa! Don't get me wrong, they are excited for Santa, but the girls have never given us the reaction that I hope to see. This time they finally did! Can you believe they got that excited over plastic eggs?!?! I forgot to take pictures of the girl's in their Easter dresses so I'll take pictures next week! The girl's had lots of fun dying eggs at our house, dying eggs at Grandma Janet's and Grandpa Dean's house, Having an Easter egg hunt at Gracie's park,
and another Easter Egg hunt at Grandma Janet's and Grandpa Dean's!

Before and After!

Okay, so I totally forgot to take a before picture, but you can kind of see in the background of this picture. The walls are a beige color, and the light is a silver chandelier. And now.... Not the best picture, but you get the idea. I painted one wall red,and hung a new bronze chandelier! I also made the curtains. Right now they are long, I might shorten them, or make just a valance. What do you think?
My favorite part is actually the plate rack! I just hung a wreath in the center instead of a plate! Super fun!
So that is what I do when Bryc is gone! Seriously, I want to know what you think I should do with the curtains...any great ideas???

The Girl's Picture's!

One Crazy Week!

So, I kind of dropped off the face of the internet world for a week! We have been soooo busy! Well, I should say I have been soooo busy, Bryce was out of town last week. Whenever he leaves, I try to become wonder woman, I try to stuff as much as possible into the week. I got the girls pictures taken, took the girls to Disney Princesses on Ice, redecorated my kitchen, and painted one wall in my kitchen red! I didn't tell Bryce that I was doing any of it! I wanted to see his reaction! He loves it, so I am safe! Oh one more thing, I bought a new hanging light in the kitchen, and rewired it myself! Thank you very much! Ha..Ha..Ha! I'll find a before picture and take an after picture soon!

New Swimming Suits!

Yesterday we went to Costco. The girls saw the Disney Princess Swim Suits and had to have them. Well, they haven't taken the suits off since we got home! I really love the bunched up panties underneath! I do have to say, one of my favorite things ever is little girls bums hanging out of their swim suits! Usually it's that little wedgie they are totally oblivious to! Ha..Ha..Ha! I love it!

What Is Your True Color?

Take this test!
You're green, the color of growth and vigor. Good-hearted and giving, you have a knack for finding and bringing out the best in people. Green is the most down-to-earth color in the spectrum — reliable and trustworthy. People know they can count on you to be around in times of need, since your concern for people is genuine and sincere. You take pride in being a good friend. For you, success is measured in terms of personal achievement and growth, not by status or position. Rare as emeralds, greens are wonderful, natural people. It truly is your color!

That sounds nice and all, but they haven't seen me at my worst! I know a few other definitions for green as well!!! Ha..Ha..Ha!!!
